The plans are in the works.  Currently, the plan is to depart Fresno on June 24 and fly to Baltimore, MD.  We will visit Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.  As time nears, we will provide more updates. We return to Fresno on June 30, 2012.

Fall Colloquium 2011

Participants will attend two days of content-rich teaching on the topic "The Civil War and Reconstruction". Presentations are conducted by noted scholars in the field of history and history education. In addition, Fresno Pacific University specialists will conduct lesson-integration activities with the teachers to help them with their newly acquired content knowledge. Teachers will collaborate, investigate teaching strategies, and conduct historical research.

With the Fresno Historical Society, teachers will travel to the Sacramento/San Joaquin Delta region.  The sites visited will be related to what participants are studying throughout the year during the colloquias, workshop, and summer institute.

 

We'll leave Fresno at 7:30 a.m.  Prepare to be amazed at the unique and rich history of this CA region!

Fresno Historical Society Winter Field Study

Spring Workshop 2012

Our two-day spring workshop with Fresno Historical Society will enable teachers to get hands-on experience while working with our local and regional resources. Teachers will become familiar with all that our region has to offer, thus helping them to provide their students with a better understanding of where they live. Ultimately, both teachers and students will realize the link between local, regional, and American history.
